found this last week, works great for xp
http://majorgeeks.com/QRM_Plus_Manager_d6498.html
QRM Plus Manager 1.0

QRM Plus Manager is a System Restore Manager, which lets you create restore points, carry out system restore operations & selectively delete system restore points in your Windows computer. You can also add these options to your right-click context menu.

QRM Plus Manager now gives Windows users additional options for System Restore:

# Create a Restore Point by clicking the Create button.
# Enables a user to randomly remove Restore Points. Just select a Restore Point from the list and click the Delete button.
# Enables a user to Restore their computer. Simply select a Restore Point from the list and click the Restore Button. This will Restart your computer and launch the Restore process.
# If your System Restore is disabled and if you try to create a Restore Point, a message box will display asking if the user would like to enable System Restore.

Just wanted to say thanks
This little program is a life saver
Something happened after the latest windows update that ruined my system, windows kept freezing and firefox and chrome bookmarks disappeared !!
system restore kept failing to restore even after disabling AV & running it as admin in safe mode.
This tool saved the day by exploring an earlier backup point and restoring my bookmarks and settings

Many many thanks

[...] System Restore Explorer is a FREE tool that fills right in the gap providing a mounting way to explorer what’s in the every single Restore Point. When launched, it lists all Restore Points found in the system. You can then mount every single one to shortcut folder so that you can browse its content in the Windows Explorer, and copy or paste any of the files inside Restore Point when needed.
Nice work! This was a lifesaver just now, and I wish I'd had it a week ago as it would have saved me even more trouble then!

If this tool can run portably, I'd suggest putting it up on PortableApps.com so it can get some good exposure for you.

Thanks for making this!
